BIO
Computer Magic is the moniker of Danielle "Danz" Johnson, based in New York, NY. She writes, composes and produces the music herself.
Computer Magic's influences include New Order, Depeche Mode, Human League, Giorgio Moroder, Radiohead and Stereolab. Her visual aesthetic is heavily inspired by sci-fi films and books, the 1968 cult classic Barbarella, Logan's Run, 2001: A Space Odyssey and Phillip K. Dick are all visual / song writing influencers.
She has maintained success in Japan through P-Vine Records and has gained a cult following in the United States, despite never being on a record label in the USA (she releases via her own independent label Channel 9 Records with The Orchard distrobution).
In addition to licensing original compositions, she also produces custom works for commercials in Japan, such as Panasonic, Body Mainte, and QP Half. She has toured in Japan, Russia, Spain, and the USA. She has modeled clothes for Sofia Coppola's Japanese clothing company Milkfed and was in the fall catalog for the skate clothing brand X-Girl, founded by Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon in the 1990s.
